Te Selle Brothers Voyage to America - October 1865
Two te Selle brothers, Jan Hendrik
(1838-1921) and Harmen Jan (1844-1919), embarked by ship from Liverpool, England, on
October 12, 1865, and arrived in New York on October 30. Although Harmen
Jan does not mention the ship by name in his
letter written November 26, 1865 describing the journey,
research into passenger lists from that period reveals that
the name of the ship was S.S. Helvetia. Images of the
passenger list and a drawing of the S.S. Helvetia have been
added to the website.

Chapter 9 added to the
Te Selle Chronicle: The History of the Dutch
Settlement in Lancaster County, Nebraska, by Gustav Bade.
This thesis was written by Gustav Adolph Bade, and
presented to the Faculty of the Graduate College in the
University of Nebraska in Partial Fulfillment of
Requirements for the Degree of Master of Arts Department of
History, at Lincoln, Nebraska, July 8, 1938.
The Introduction and Chapter I were added to the website today, and more sections of this
thesis will be added in the next several days. A
photocopy of the original Gustav Bade thesis was given to
Bob TeSelle in September 2006 by Mrs. Ione Heinen of
Oostburg, Wisconsin, while Bob was visiting Wisconsin to do
some genealogy research on the TeSelle family. This
photocopy has been scanned into the computer and transcribed
into the TeSelle Family website.

A Te Selle at Water Mill "De Olliemölle"
The old water mill of Den
Helder in Winterswijk provided a picturesque setting for
relaxation and recreation. Johan and Trui [Gertruida]
te Selle owned the mill for many years and were instrumental
in its renovation and operation. Their granddaughter
Thea te Selle - Loonen related the story of the water mill
to Dirk Willem te Selle, who has contributed the story to
our website.
